interesting - comparison of the Kindle screen vs the iPad screen… - almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea

interesting - comparison of the Kindle screen vs the iPad screen under a microcope

Still loving the kindle app for my phone - I can take my books (all three of them) anywhere and if I have a spare couple of minutes, I can catch up on some reading. I like that it synchs back to my PC over the aether, and that amazon will happily send you sample chapters of books for free.

Currently reading 'The City and The City', by China Mieville. Annoyingly the free sample finished just as it was getting interesting, which I guess is the point.

Still think ebooks should be significantly cheaper than actual paper, rather than just a bit cheaper.

Once you go to the original blog page, you can see magnifications of actual print pages too. Which reader most resembles a book? Yep, it's the Kindle! I'll take my Kindle with a booklight attached over an eye-straining self-lit iPad any day.

I'm tempted. But it's still over a hundred quid for the wifi only one and £149 for the 3G version.

When I'm reading on my iphone I don't feel eye strain. I also like being able to read in bed w/o the light on. Rick says he gets eye strain from the lit screen too, so he won't even consider an iPad for our e-reader.
When we borrowed Jason's Kindle I did wish the screen had more contrast. If it's not going to be self lit it would be nice if I could at least not be reading dark grey on light grey and get something closer to B&W instead.

The new Kindle 3 is supposed to have more contrast. Jason's thinking of getting that.
