had a lie-in this morning, which was rather nice. Can't get used to sleeping over at K's parents' house though.
Jobs for today:
varnish windowsill (might give them another coat of paint though - they've had two)
doesn't look like I'm going to get out with the camera, as it's peeing down and is set to do so all day.
shopping - need to remember to get hay/sawdust for the piggies. They were really pleased to see me this morning. Weeeep! weeeeeep!
also need to replace gas bottle for next camping trip (Greenbelt, inna fortnight)
coffee first. :-)
oh, and got a 4GB card for my new Crackberry. Am filling it with the ubermixes and TED videos. I love my Crackberry. It needs a good name though...
Suggestions? Prize for the winner...
in amongst other things, I'm trying to convert DVD to a format playable on the Crackberry. Found MobiDVD, which is a free, one-click DVD converter to various formats (iPod, PSP, etc)
It works, in that it converts the DVD to a file, but I've tried a couple of options so far and neither work on the blackberry. Frustrating - it's taking 25 minutes to convert a file, only to find that it then doesn't work.
of course, a better way to get my list of jobs done would be to TURN THE COMPUTER OFF and not check it for email/LJ updates/shiny things every time I wander past it.
the varnish has gone on, but it's a clearish mucky brown tinge.
Bah. "does exactly what it says on the tin"
well, the tin says "clear varnish", not "nearly clear, but with a brownish tinge"
Hopefully it'll dry clear.
update on the job list, as I know you're all deeply fascinated by this
Jobs for today:
tidy/hoover through varnish windowsill fix roofbox shopping
However, the varnish thing hasn't worked - the windowsill is now a lovely off-white colour, so I'll have to sand that back and gloss it. I held off doing the doorstep and I'm glad I did - that'll get a coat or two of white gloss instead.
ironing. Gah, HUGE pile of ironing.
Might leave that for later. Lunchtime. And I bought a curry for my tea. Mmmm.
right, back home briefly to have tea and slap another coat of gloss on the back doorstep.
Ironing pile still scary. Might do some tomorrow morning.
I picked up a saag aloo curry from Sainsbury's for my tea. Hmmm. I've had them before, and always thought they were quite nice. Trouble is, now I know how to make a decent curry, and that wasn't it.
It's odd - there was plenty of chicken in it, lots of spice, spinach. It had all the right *bits*, but still wasn't... right.
Of course, I *could* have picked up some chicken and spinach and made my own. It'd have been cheaper, and tastier, and would have taken about the same time to make as it took to reheat that one.
Ah well, live and learn.
Just waiting for something to finish downloading, then back off to K's parents' house to see Saffy again. She needs someone to cuddle up with on the sofa, and I've got some chocolate (and beer) in the fridge over there.
Oh, and a box set of '24' to watch.
I caught a bit of War Games on telly yesterday. Man, that's a great film. Ally Sheedy was (and still is) *so* cute.
What caught my eye though was the first two guards. Remember the two who go down into the silo and have the missile 'crisis'?
Turns out they were John Spencer (Leo from The West Wing) and Michael Madsen.
Always fun to spot people in early roles, I find. :-)
just watching The Matador at the moment. It's really very good. Pierce Brosnan is ace.
